Back in the 90s/00s the album re-release seemed to be such a huge part of the music industry, with many artists releasing updated packages with new songs, remixes etc. Now, it could just be me, but I felt like this died down a little bit in the 2010? Instead, the whole simultaneous Standard / Deluxe edition releases seemed to become the norm. Just recently I feel a change coming again - the deluxe editions seem to be falling out of fashion, and the rerelease is making a comeback. So I'm interested to know: Firstly, do you think I'm right? And secondly, what do you make of these strategies? Do you like having the opportunity to buy deluxe editions and rereleased content, or do you think it's just a con to get more money?

I think you're right, deluxe editions definitely appear to be less common now, I mean even Reputation doesn't have one. I always buy the deluxe if the artist is a fave so I'm sad this is the case; sometimes a deluxe track is my favourite on the album). I'm never a big fan of re-releases because I find them lazy and would never considering paying £10 for 3/4 extra tracks (if I already own the original that is). I've seen some where they've added 2 or sometimes even 1 extra song which I think is ludicrous especially if they're charging the same price as a new release. There are some cases where rereleases were done properly and tend to be those with EP's added (The Fame Monster, Born To Die: Paradise Edition, Queen of the Clouds: Blueprint Edition etc).
