Hey guys. Since I've made a couple of tweets recently about my favorite bands, I thought about starting a thread on it.
I'm gonna divide this post in three parts, and releasing each once a week. The first is the top 3.
#1. LACUNA COIL
Formed in 1994, this Italian band has been known for composing songs consisting of prominent guitar lines and contrasting dual female/male vocal harmonies (provided by rock queen Cristina Scabbia and the male vocalist Andrea Ferro) to help create a melodic, detached sound. Much of the band's recent material, however, sees a heavier and more down-tuned style, featuring a more distinct bass line and a higher mixing of the guitars and electronic synths within the songs.
* Genre: Alternative metal, gothic rock.
* Favorite albums: Broken Crown Halo (2014), Delirium (2016), Karmacode (2006), Comalies (2002), Unleashed Memories (2001).
* Single recommendation: I Forgive (But I Won't Forget Your Name) (from Broken Crown Halo)
#2. DEPECHE MODE
Formed in 1980 in Basildon, Essex, the group consists of founders Dave Gahan (lead vocals), Martin Gore (guitar, keyboards, vocals, main songwriter since 1982) and Andy Fletcher (keyboards, bass guitar). The band's last albums of the 1980s established them as a dominant force on the mainstream electronic music scene. They have sold over 100 million records worldwide, have had seventeen top 10 albums in the UK chart and over 50 songs in the UK Singles Chart.
* Genre: Synthpop, new wave, electronic rock.
* Favorite albums: Sounds of the Universe (2009), Black Celebration (1986), Delta Machine (2013), A Broken Frame (1982).
* Single recommendation: Enjoy the Silence (from Violator)
#3. NOTHING BUT THIEVES
Formed in 2012, this rising British alt rock band consist of vocal powerhouse and guitarist Conor Mason, guitarist Joe Langridge-Brown, guitarist and keyboardist Dominic Craik, bassist Philip Blake and drummer James Price. Their sophomore album Broken Machine is set to be released in September 2017.
* Genre: Alternative rock.
* Favorite albums: Nothing but Thieves (2015).
* Single recommendation: Trip Switch (from Nothing but Thieves)
